The last post was ... early Feb? It's nearly 2 months later, then. Well, a lot has happened since then. I've gone down from 160, which is the last weight I think I posted, to below 150, to about 148. I started a new diet pill, which accounts for some of the loss, and then the other part has been from the stress of the divorce and just not eating.
I think, in order to keep it off and lose even more, I need to really start running and exercising. So, tonight, I have been doing free weights in my room and doing leg crunches. My legs need exercise in a bad way. haha. :)

HcG v. OA
**Not a doctor, this is just my personal experience with these diets**
I am currently on the Overeaters Anonymous (OA).
I have tried HcG.
I'm doing a comparison of the two.
The last time I was on OA was a few years ago and we were so poor we couldn't afford to buy so much fresh veggies, which alone was about 100 dollars+ a week. (In order to do the diet this time, I'm mixing canned vegetables along with fresh to keep the cost low.) If you work at it, you can keep the weight off.
The last time I did HcG, was last year sometime but, I can't remember exactly when. It's cheap to buy and cheap to use but unfortunately, the results are not lasting.
OA is a a group program that asks you to go through a 12-step program to conquer your eating problems. You are supposed to attend 3 meetings and call your sponsor a certain amount of times.
Hcg is an at home diet. If you happen to find a dr who will help you out, I think that is better. But finding the diet is pretty easy, either online or at a grocery store like Good Earth (in Orem).
OA has a specific meal plan for men and for women. I don't know the mens' meal plan, so this is based off the meal plan for women. This plan don't require you to exercise, though it is a good idea. It gives you multiple choices for each category, which are Proteins, Grains, Vegetables, Fruit and Fat. For each meal, you are told how many of which category to have. For example, breakfast is Grain, Protein and Fruit. Lunch is Protein, Vegetables, fat and fruit. Dinner is protein, grain, vegetables and fat. At first, for probably the first week, if you aren't used to not snacking-- as there is no snacking allowed-- you may feel hungry. I know I did. However, now that I'm into the 2nd week (day 10) I'm not feeling hungry in between meals. You stop feeling hungry because you are eating a LOT of food at each meal, plus you are eating food that is good for you- that your body needs, rather than junk food. For most people who have been on this diet, it becomes a lifestyle rather than just a diet they were once on. One woman, whom I personally know, lost over 130 pounds in a year. Another woman lost more than that, though I don't know the exact amount... I saw a photo of her after photo with her in her old bra (over her clothes) and she could fit 2 basketballs in. I would guess she lost about 130-150 pounds as well. Both of those women lost the weight over 5 years ago and have kept it off. Now, I'm obviously not aiming to lose THAT much, but my point is that it's possible to lose a lot of weight on this diet and keep it off.
On Hcg, the meal plan is also very strict. However, it is kind of the opposite of the OA meal plan. You are restricted to 400-500 calories a day. It recommends exercising after the second week. You also have a meal plan that gives you ideas about what to eat and what you can have. I no longer have the pamphlet so this is mostly off of memory; please correct me if I'm wrong. Again, it's been quite a while and I can't remember all the details. It can be a 6-8 week process, in which they say you can lose 25-40 pounds. The first two days are Fat Loading Days. You eat as much food high in fat, like nuts as you want/can, while taking the drops. Then you start the diet. They tell you how much meat and lettuce and grains. You mark of that you've had your two meats, lettuce and grains. You take the drops 3 times a day every day that you are on the diet. You do feel hungry because of how little you are eating, but after the first week, like OA, you stop feeling hungry, however, you stop feeling hungry because of the hormone you're taking. After you are done, you stop the drops and continue the diet for 3 additional days. Then, you can slowly start introducing other foods like starches. After a couple of weeks, you should be able to go back to eating normal.
I think it's pretty clear which diet I prefer, even though it's more expensive. It's healthier and if you stick with it, it is just as quick as HCG. As with all diets, if you don't start a new lifestyle, like exercising and being more conscious of what you eat, you will gain the weight back. My favorite thing about OA is that you can mix and match. For example, with Protein, if I don't want 4oz of meat, I have 2oz with 1 egg instead of all 4oz of meat or 2 eggs. In HcG, mix and matching isn't allowed, especially with vegetables. In OA, sometimes I just can't eat 12oz of the same vegetable so I'll have half green beans and half lettuce. I like that it can vary.
It's Febuary 2nd and this morning I'm down 5 pounds since the start date. I'm pretty excited. :)

New Goal
Okay, so I have (another) new goal. I'd like to lose a minimum of 18 pounds by March 11. Hopefully by posting it out there, I'll give myself even more reason to stick to it. :)
If I lose a minimum of 3 pounds a week I'll have reached my goal. I'd like it to be more than that, but that's pretty good for 6 weeks, don't you think? Through the OA meal plan, in this first week, I've lost 3 pounds (even with all my cheating), so if I keep at it, I should be able to lose 3 every week. I need to get to the gym more often, but between working 6 days a week and school 3 days a week... I'll just admit, I need to manage my time better. Sigh. But hopefully in 6 weeks, I'll be about 20 pounds smaller!

Loss.
When did I post last? Sunday? I think it was Sunday. I am down to 160.... shoot, 160 point something, which means I'm down about 3 pounds. That's an exciting update. :) I have to admit though, I've been cheating a little bit each day, whether it means a little bit of food off the diet, or accidentally skipping meals due to lack of time. Hopefully I'll get better. :)

I'm Back
Wow, it's been a long time since I wrote on this blog. I've decided to start losing weight again. I just got so busy with work and school last semester, I wasn't able to get to the gym as much as I wanted to. I'm hoping to better schedule my time this semester. I'm starting at 163.3 today. :( Boo, which means I've lost weight and then regained. :( No fun. My goal weight range is between 130 and 135. I'll be doing the Over Eaters Anonymous Diet this time. For anyone who wants it, I'll email it to you. One of my friends will be doing it with me, which is cool. :) We'll be keep each other honest. hehe Anyway, that's all. I think I'll just be posting once a week, probably on Sundays, as far as updates go. Thanks!

Grr.
I think my body gains weight too easily. We had friends over for two evenings this week and I have totally ballooned. ..okay, maybe not ballooned but I certainly gained weight. I know, I know, I just shouldn't have eaten foods outside of my diet, but it was yummy food! I didn't like massively indulge, but what I did eat my body has CLUNG to. I hate it! I'm seriously considering seeing a doctor to find out if I have a thyroid problem. Sigh.
PS. I love that I feel better (and thinner) after going to the gym. I admit, I'm very lazy in motivating myself to actually *go*, but when I'm done and I'm walking out the door, I feel thinner and better. Now, whether or not I'm actually thinner... I don't think really matters, I just feel like I am. :)
PSS. I'm taking a break from HCG for now. I've done it for a month. I'll take a few weeks off and then try again (in probably a month). In the meanwhilst, I'll be going to the gym, doing some weight exercises and not eating like I used to. If anyone wants to join me in this endeavor, you are welcome (both before and after I start HCG again). :)

Finally
This may seem silly but I finally weigh less than Chris again. haha. I weighed less than him when we got married but once our one year anniversary swung by, we were the same, and then I got pregnant and yeah. But the past week or so, I've finally been less than him and (for me,) it's been exciting. :)
PS. ...had spaghetti for dinner tonight, which is DEFINITELY not on the HCG diet, but I figure, gotta cheat a little otherwise, a person is likely to go crazy.

It's been a while.
I just looked at this blog again. It's been nearly 7 months since I last wrote! Things have been pretty crazy, I guess. In December, Chris and I moved back together (which sounds weird, but I promise it wasn't because of marital problems. :) haha I was away at school, remember?), we both continued school and finished the semester in June, and he continued working and I got a part time job. By the end of the semester I was so ready for a break I nearly died. hehe, not really. Okay so onto weight loss!
**Just a note, that goal counter is incorrect, but I don't know how to fix/change it**
I know a lot of people are against HCG but I've decided to try it. I started.... June... something. Early June. Okay, I had to go look. It was June 10th. I had gained back (and more) my weight which was really upsetting to me. I saw on a friend's facebook that she'd lost 25 pounds on HCG and she looked/looks amazing. I asked how she did it and she said HCG and told me where to get it so I did.
I started on the 10 of June, nearly a month ago, and as of today, I've lost 13 pounds. I've got about 3 weeks left on the program and I'm hoping to lose at least another 10-15 pounds. In addition to HCG and the diet, I've started going to the gym again, which I think has been helping. Hopefully after I'm off HCG I'll still be in the mode of going to the gym and will continue going.
I've also noticed that my body retains water and weight really easily which is not fun. I'm thinking about, due to a suggestion from a nurse at work, going to a doctor's to have a thyroid test done. I don't seem to lose weight very easily when it's just diet and exercise so perhaps that will answer some questions and help me when I'm off HCG. I've thought about before and after photos... but I think I'd be happier with just after. So if you want to see any progress, you'll just have to see me in person. :)

My Wants
This was a snippet of my conversation with Chris tonight:
Me: I want to go to the gym 6 days a week, maybe twice a day.
Me: I want to eat veggies and chicken.
Me: I want brown rice
Me: I want a lot of water and flavored water.
Me: I want to weigh 120 pounds.
Me: I want this to happen in 6-8 months.
Me: Sound good?
Me: and I want lots of cute new clothes when I lose it all.
To all this, my husband (very supportingly) says: well if you do all that, it will be done in 3 months
He's being a little too supportive. I don't think it's not possible to lose roughly 35 pounds (healthily) in 3 months. Nice try though, dear. :)
haha. Another thing I've thought of since, is that when I'm hot because it's summer time, I want for my wedding rings to still fit easily even though I'm all swollen from the heat. Do you know what I mean?
If I can get to this goal, 120lbs will be the smallest I'll have been since ... well, I don't really know. Probably middle school. I think I was about 135 in HS. If I can lose 30- 35 pounds in 7 months (I'm giving myself 8) that will mean 5 pounds a month. Totally doable! Can't wait to get back to Utah and get back to the gym!!!!

Day 147
Oh dear. Bad news. Haha, I've not been able to make it to the gym like, 2 months. It's been really sad. I have eczema on my upper lip and from past experience, I know that when I get sweaty my lip/eczema gets worse. I'm not sure why my eczema acts up like this sometimes. Some times it's just a few days at a time other times its weeks. In this case, it's months. It hurts and is embarrassing and not fun. Anyway, also, my family doesn't cook the healthiest kinds of foods... hehe, but it is darn good food. Because of all this, I haven't done well on the weight loss. In fact, I've gained about back about 5 to 7 pounds. Gross, I know and I feel really disgusting. It probably doesn't help that I go to bed around 2 or 3 am every night. You do know that getting a good amount of sleep helps your body maintain and/or lose weight, right? I only have another week till we leave for home in UT and then I'll get to go back to the gym! I'm really excited about that. If any friends reading this are in Orem or Provo or American Fork I'd be happy to go to the gym with you! :) Yay.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update: (12/14) It turns out I've only gained back about 3 pounds. Wow, that's a big difference. The scale I use is an analog scale (with the needle pointer, you know?) and today I stepped onto a digital scale and was pleasantly surprised to see a lower number than I'd expected. Sweet.

Day 80
Wow, it's been a while. I still weigh the same. And now that Margot's wedding is done, I've gotten really relaxed about eating and exercising. Not too good, I know, I know. I gotta get back on that band-wagon! :)

Day 64
Tonight, I weighed myself before settling into bed and to work on my foreign film class paper. Guess what. I'm 147.7! Whooo!!! That means 2 pounds away from my pre-wedding weight and oh my gosh, I'm so excited. :-D Yay. Margot's wedding is a mere 10 days away, which means I have less than 2 weeks to lose 7 pounds. Which ... probably won't happen, but that'll be okay. Since I started, I've lots 10 pounds now. On Day One, I wrote: "The short term goal is to lose at least 10-15 pounds by Sept 30th for my friend's wedding in Oct." I started this blog at being 157. So I've hit the minimum!!! How great is that? Maybe I can lose another 2 pounds before I leave next week. Thank you, thank you. Hold your applause. ;)

Day 59
Today is my 4 year wedding anniversary. :) But anyway... about weight loss. I went with a friend last night to Old Navy in Gilroy and guess what. Instead of size 10 pants, I bought size 8!!! I'm really excited about it!!!!! :-D And of course, skinny jeans. Yay me.
Tuesday, September 14, 2010
Day 57
This morning, I weighed myself and I am 149!!!!! That means I weigh less than Chris. haha! I was complaining to him last night about how I feel like I'll never weigh less than him again. I'm sooo excited I do again! :-D Yay!!! haha. I'm also excited to not be in the 150s in the morning. Seeing that 4 really made me happy. That means just 4 more pounds until pre-wedding weight! Oh my goodness. :) Yay.
Sunday, September 12, 2010
Day 55
Still at 150. Not a big shock, since I only posted about 3 days ago. I've decided to try out the HCG diet. Not the shots... oh my goodness, no way could I voluntarily give myself shots every day, but I will try the drops. There will be a pretty stick diet I'll stick to and then gradually go back to eating normally. It's just been hard going to the gym so much and not losing weight easily or quickly. I think I started this ... what? 2 months ago and I've only lost 7 pounds? Let's see how the HCG works. Anyone else tried it? Comments?

Day 52
Uh oh. I haven't been blogging on here at all. :( I've been pretty busy. School started on the 1st and then over the weekend we went to LA to go to Disneyland. But, I'm down to 150! :-D Whoo! So that's good. I probably won't be blogging on here everyday anymore now that school has started and my math teacher gives us 4 pages of homework every class, ha. At least the other three classes won't be so hard. Thanks for sticking around!

Day 43
I haven't been able to post anything because I left town this weekend for a wedding. And I'm not going to post my meals because, frankly, I can't remember all of the days I didn't write about. But, it probably wasn't the best stuff to eat. :) Oh well. I'm back on the wagon today!
Breakfast: Bowl of cereal
Water: Glass of apple juice
Lunch: Ham sandwich and some sun chips.
Water: 15 oz
Dinner: Uh.... oh right. Penne pasta with chicken and alfredo sauce.
Water: Shoot, I don't think I had any. But maybe I did, cuz I've had to pee a lot tonight. And no, Teresa, I'm not pregnant. :)
Tomorrow, I am going to (TRY to) start OverEaters Anonymous. I'm not going to go to the meetings because, frankly, with school starting and Baby, I just don't have time. I'll try to stick to the menu as much as food and the wallet allows. The countdown has officially started now that Margot's wedding is one month away.

Day 39
Out of curiosity, I looked up some websites that tell you how many calories you burn. Apparently, I burn from 1800-1900. You type in your age, weight and height and what kind of activity level your day is and it tells you. Here's one of them.

Breakfast: A bowl of chex
Water: I had a small glass of apple juice.
Lunch: A had a bagel ham sandwich and some sun chips.
Water: 32 oz
Dinner: Pizza-- veggie.
Water: 24 oz
Exercise: I'm hoping to go to the gym tonight. -- Well, I went to the gym tonight. Only to turn right back around. I went to the day care and no one was there!! :( I was really embarrassed (for having to leave so quickly after I'd arrived.) I called when I got home, but the regular staff didn't answer, even though the office hours hadn't closed. I was pretty disappointed. :(

Day 38
Breakfast: I had a bowl of soup. It was cold this morning!
Water: 32 oz
Lunch: A salad with mushrooms and ranch. I also had some of Baby's Sun Chips. Sheesh. Okay, more than just "Some." Bad. hah
Water: Apple juice.
Dinner: Will be stir fry, fried rice and teriyaki chicken. Yum! and it's mostly home made (the teriyaki is store bought) so I control how healthy it is. Plus, it's one of my favorite dinners. :)

Dinner: Will be stir fry, fried rice and teriyaki chicken. Yum! and it's mostly home made (the teriyaki is store bought) so I control how healthy it is. Plus, it's one of my favorite dinners. :)

Day 37
Breakfast: I had a flat bread breakfast thingy from subway with ham, onions, bell pepper and lettuce. It was REALLY good!
Water: I had a bottle of apple juice.
Lunch: Shoot.. what did I have? Oh, I think I had a bowl of cereal and a few bites of Baby's ham sandwich.
Water: I know it was lots... like, 40 oz. I was thirsty!
Dinner: Hamburgers, but I'll definitely limit it to one and then have lots of veggies!
water: Probably won't have as much as I did at lunch, but it's hot so maybe!
Exericse: Unfortunately I haven't been to the gym today or run around the neighborhood. It's been kinda busy with dropping Mom off at the airport and now the baby is napping ... so maybe I'll go after she wakes and eats. But hopefully that'll be before 6:30 cuz the day care stops at 8. ---Yes, went to the gym. Walked/ran for 30 minutes, then biked for about 10 and finished off with some free weights. I'm tired of having fat and flabby arms. :)
